The Marine Society and Sea Cadets


From sailing to rock climbing, the Sea Cadets provide over 14,000 young people across the UK with amazing opportunities for personal development. Established in 1856, this high-profile national charity is run largely by adult volunteers with naval or marine experience.

We’ve been delighted to work with Immediate Media Branded Content from concept through to delivery on several new communication channels for the charity. Their ideas have gelled really well with our business needs and they’ve worked hard to understand our key audiences. The result has been spot-on across the three new products we’ve created with them.

Current - Microsite for Sea Cadets


The Brief

The MSSC asked us to create a suite of communications to engage the charity’s three key audiences: Supporters, Volunteers and the Sea Cadets themselves. Following focus group feedback from Sea Cadets aged 10-18, we created a digital magazine, Current, exclusively for them.

The Results

Built in multi-platform HTML5, Current has all the interactivity and dynamism of a Flash magazine, but with an easy-to-navigate grid system, and complete shareability. It has a slick, modern feel with games and challenges to keep Cadets interested and involved.

MSSC Annual Review


The Annual Review 2010/11 is a 20-page, full colour document focusing on informing the readership about the key areas of the charity’s work during the last 12 months.  

The review also provides key facts and statistics, international news, financial review and comment from both the Chairman and the CEO.  The document also details the charity’s plans for the year ahead. 

Fleet Magazine


Fleet is a lively magazine that is created by and for volunteers of the Sea Cadets. It delivers the news and views volunteers need to know quickly and effectively.

Crucially, it puts the volunteers at the heart of the publication: focus groups help us to shape the content while volunteers themselves contribute to the majority of the articles.

Seafarer News


As part of our truly integrated print and digital communications suite for the MSSC, we produce Seafarer News, a print magazine for the organisation’s supporters which provides a platform to inform and engage the supporter audience.  We also produce Current, an engaging and interactive digital magazine for the Sea Cadets and Fleet, a newspaper format communication platform for its volunteers.
