Good Food reveals the stars of Christmas - the winners of the 2025 Christmas supermarket taste test awards
Thursday 23 October, 2025
The UKโs number one food media brand, Good Food, has announced the winners of the hotly-anticipated Good Food Christmas Supermarket Taste Test Awards, showcasing the best of the supermarket festive buys from mince pies to pigs-in-blankets and Christmas puddings to turkey crowns.
Thirteen supermarkets entered their best Christmas products across 17 categories, a total of 185 products. Food was prepared and cooked according to packet instructions by an independent home economist. All packaging was removed and the Good Food panel of expert judges tasted all items blind, then submitted comments and a score out of 10 for each product via anonymous judging forms. The process was overseen by an independent adjudicator.
โThis yearโs Christmas Supermarket Taste Test shows you can have a brilliant festive spread without breaking the bank.ย The supermarkets offer showstopping mains and nostalgic puddings saving time in the kitchen so you can focus on adding flair to your family favourite Christmas recipes and creating your own precious food memories.โ
Lulu Grimes, Managing Editor, Good Food

The full results are in the iconic Good Food Christmas issue which goes on sale Thursday 23 October featuring a spectacular gingerbread house cover star and recipes that deserve star billing including Barney Desmazeryโs Best ever lemon and herb roast turkey and Samuel Goldsmithsโs mix and match air fryer canapes.ย Also in the Good Food Christmas issue is a handy guide to calculating how much food you need to avoid waste and tips on how to transform any surplus you do have into new favourites such as sprout bubble and squeak, mince pie truffles and festive bean and ham soup.
M&S scooped the most wins in this yearโs Good Food Christmas Supermarket Taste Test, coming top in six out of the 17 categories, including joint Best turkey crown, Best gammon and Best vegetarian main. Morissons was awarded five wins including Best classic and Best flavoured mince pie. Tesco won Best pigs in blankets and Lidl Best trifle while Booths came first in Best alternative Christmas cake and Aldi triumphed with Best smoked salmon. Sainsburys scooped Best biscuit tin and were joint winners of the coveted Best turkey crown.
โOur Christmas starts in August when we taste all the hundreds of products submitted, and from then anticipation builds as to who will make the winners list. There was serious competition this year between the 13 supermarkets who entered as they all feature a fabulous range of festive food. Weโre confident that our final list of winners showcases the best that the supermarkets have to offer this season. Combining supermarket buys with home-made dishes from our Good Food thoroughly tested Christmas recipes means everyone can enjoy a spectacular and affordable Christmas feast.โ
