Junior Data Engineer (up to £35,000)

About the role

The Data Engineering Team is a highly skilled and in-demand group within the business, operating as part of the Product & Technology department at Immediate. The team delivers cross-department projects and supports the organisation’s evolving data needs, playing a key role in enabling data-driven decision making.

As a Junior Data Engineer, you will receive strong support and guidance from senior engineers, giving you the time and opportunity to grow your technical knowledge and develop your skills. You will bring some hands-on experience working with data, alongside a genuine curiosity for problem solving and a desire to learn new technologies, tools and processes.

We’re looking for someone who communicates clearly, collaborates effectively with colleagues, and takes initiative in their work. You’ll be self-motivated, eager to develop, and increasingly confident working independently as your experience grows. A mindset focused on continuous improvement and learning will be key to success in this role.

As a Junior Data Engineer, you will;

  • Develop data solutions to meet company needs
  • Build data pipelines to get data where it needs to be
  • Help complete engineering tasks on time and to specification
  • Improve data quality and solve problems
  • Contribute to robust processes and technical best practice
  • Help maintain and improve the data platform and technology
  • Foster technical skills and improve knowledge

Requirements

  • Experience working with Data.
  • Knowledge of Python and/or SQL.
  • Some experience with Code control/Git
  • Evidence of computing skills e.g. completing online courses.

Advantageous, but not required:

  • Databricks
  • Data Build Tool
