About the role

As Digital Editor at goodfood.com, you will play a pivotal role in driving audience engagement and executing a high-impact SEO strategy that expands the reach and performance of one of the UK's most trusted food brands.

As a Digital Editor, you will;

  • Develop and lead Good Food’s engagement and SEO strategy, ensuring best-in-class content discoverability, audience growth, and sustained traffic across all verticals (recipes, health, reviews, etc.).
  • Maintain / grow site traffic, page views, video views, dwell time, and return visits through meticulous SEO optimisation, strategic editorial planning, and a deep understanding of content performance data.
  • Oversee reporting of SEO and engagement KPIs, ensuring that data driven insights drive all editorial decisions and innovations. Translate analytics into action across the team and work closely with the central data team to drive best data literacy within the digital editorial team.
  • Partner with the product team to ensure that site functionality supports user-first engagement and that SEO technical best practices are upheld and improved.
  • Deepen user engagement across the site, using data-led strategies to drive   increase active user sessions, boost newsletter interactions, and improve CRM performance.
  • Work closely with the central content team, head of multimedia operations and the content director to continually evolve editorial strategies that reflect seasonal trends, user intent, and algorithm updates.
  • Collaborate with the head of multimedia operations, marketing and social teams to create trend-setting, shareable, and engaging digital content that supports broader growth goals across owned and earned media.
  • Leverage ECRM and email marketing insights to create compelling content journeys, integrating SEO and engagement goals into newsletter planning and execution.
  • Manage and evolve the editorial calendar with a clear focus on content that meets search demand, fills content gaps, and boosts engagement metrics across multiple platforms.
  • Work closely with centralised video and data teams to maximise visibility and watch-time of video content across the site and social platforms, aligned with SEO and audience goals.
  • Lead on the brands locked content strategy, working with digital subscription growth team to created a best-in-class gated content strategy to hit ambitious registration targets.
  • Lead, manage, and mentor the digital editorial team, ensuring objectives align with performance and engagement targets.
  • Support delivery of vertical-specific content strategies (e.g. health, reviews, etc.), ensuring each contributes to broader SEO and engagement goals.
  • Collaborate with commercial teams to deliver editorially sound and engaging sponsored content.
  • Champion innovation through the Food AI strategy, content scaling, and process efficiencies that enhance SEO and engagement efforts.
  • Deputise for the head of multi-media operations as needed and contribute to strategic planning around new revenue streams (subscriptions, e-commerce, personalisation).

Requirements

  • SEO expertise – deep knowledge of optimisation, algorithms, and content discoverability
  • Data literacy – ability to interpret analytics and turn insights into action
  • Editorial experience – proven track record in digital publishing, commissioning, and curating high-performing content
  • Engagement focus – skilled at driving traffic, boosting user interaction, and growing subscriptions
  • Collaboration skills – confident working with product, marketing, social, video, and commercial teams
  • Leadership – experience managing and developing digital editorial teams
  • Innovation mindset – open to using AI, new tools, and creative approaches to stay ahead
