Nutracheck provides a start-of-the-art solution for calorie and nutrient tracking, using a unique food database with over 430,000 products and barcode scanner, combined with connectivity to activity tracking devices. 

About the role

As the Technology Director, you will be responsible for developing and executing the company's technology strategy, ensuring alignment with our business goals. You will lead a talented team of engineers and be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and deployment of our technical solutions. Your expertise in AWS and app development will play a pivotal role in shaping our cloud infrastructure and driving innovation across our organisation. 

As the Technology Director you will: 

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive technology strategy in line with the company's objectives, with a focus on leveraging AWS services and solutions.
  • Design, implement, and maintain a scalable cloud infrastructure that supports our applications, services and data. 
  • Lead and mentor a team of technology professionals, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Day-to-day management of front-end, back-end, Android and iOS engineers.
  • Manage the development lifecycle, from ideation and planning to execution and delivery, ensuring high-quality, scalable, and innovative solutions. 
  • Implement and maintain robust security measures and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, particularly in AWS environments. Identify potential risks and challenges that could impact the product's success, developing mitigation strategies and contingency plans. 
  • Manage and optimise AWS and other resource usage to ensure cost-effectiveness while maintaining performance and scalability. 
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, assessing their potential impact on the organization and recommending adoption where appropriate. 
  • Collaborate closely with other departments, including marketing, customer support, and analytics, to ensure technology solutions align with customer needs and overall business strategies. 
  • Enhance and utilise product analytics to support decisions about feature performance, user engagement, and overall app success.
  • Plan and execute product releases, ensuring stable deployment and minimising disruptions for subscribers. 

Requirements

  • Extensive, hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS). 
  • Strong knowledge of cloud computing, DevOps practices, and infrastructure as code (IAC). 
  • Expertise in data engineering processes. 
  • Proven experience in managing mobile app products, understanding the nuances of mobile user behaviour and design principles.  
  • Track record of successfully leading and developing high-performing technology teams. 
  • Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. 
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. 
  • Strong programme and delivery management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously. 
  • Internationalisation and/or localisation experience 
  • Experience with subscription analytics and retention strategies 
  • Experience with conversion rate optimisation and experimentation 
  • Experience with Agile and iterative development methodologies, facilitating collaboration between teams and adapting to changing market dynamics.
